— Construction and marketing activities will highlight 2013 progress at Sterling Business & Technology Park, located at Exit 17, Interstate 84 in Sterling Township.
The 252-acre business park is under development by Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO).
Grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will be used to complete the realignment of S.R. 3004 (Moon Road) just north of the intersection of S.R. 191 and 196 and prepare building pads on approved Phase 1 lots. Nine of the business park's 23 lots comprise Phase 1 and are ready to go, and WEDCO is expanding marketing activities to attract their first full-time tenant.
The lots have central sewer, central water featuring a water re-use system, interior roads, three-phase power, and broadband. Much of the permitting has been done upfront, including land use and NPDES for stormwater on individual lots.
According to WEDCO executive director Mary Beth Wood, marketing a new business park, which is still looking forward to its first building, is challenging.
"There is a lot of truth to the adage seeing is believing," stated Ms. Wood. "We are asking prospects to visualize what could be there in terms of their building project, not what is there now."
To help with that challenge, WEDCO turned to technology and had an animation sequence completed, which was funded in part through a PPL Blue Ribbon Marketing grant. The animation follows the layout of Sterling Business & Technology Park and includes building models and amenities that match WEDCO's development vision.
"PPL offers economic development marketing grants for innovative and creative ideas," said Ms. Wood. "WEDCO could not do a high tech animation project without PPL's investment."
Partnering with local economic development organizations is fundamental to PPL's Blue Ribbon Marketing Program. "PPL strives to be an active and vital member of the community," stated PPL Regional Manager Paul Canevari. "Supporting WEDCO and their marketing efforts for Sterling Business & Technology Park gives PPL a role in promoting job creation and economic growth in Wayne County and the region."
The animation, created by Dan Simrell Advertising, Scranton, will be featured on Sterling Business &Technology Park's new website: sterlingbusinesspark.com.
