The Cat’s Pajamas thrift shop, benefiting Dessin Animal Shelter will be relocating to 623 Main St., Honesdale, from its current location on 8th Street by early summer. The new location was formally occupied by Little Duck House.
“After careful consideration, the board unanimously approved the transition with specific objectives in mind: a decrease in overhead expenses; improved visibility and accessibility; and the achievement of an increased equity position,” says Tammy Hardler, president of the board of directors of the Olga and Dorothea Dessin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. “We are excited about the opportunity to continue and expand our efforts in support of education about the prevention of cruelty to animals.”
Upon the completion of necessary structural repairs, staff, board members and volunteers will complete store set-up in time for the summer season. Any interruption in the usual operating hours of Cat’s Pajamas will be communicated to the public.
All shop proceeds, after expenses, will continue to support the care of animals at Dessin Animal Shelter.
“As always, we are humbled by the generosity and dedication of our community in support of our mission to help any unwanted animals,” added Hardler.
The mission of the Olga and Dorothea Dessin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to provide a clean, healthy and compassionate environment for animals surrendered to the society shelter; to make available healthy, compatible, spayed/neutered pets for adoption into the community; to provide a progressive working environment for its staff and to promote community awareness of animal welfare issues and responsible pet ownership.
