I love snow, but it's time for the cold to leave. With spring, it also means the beginning of something great: baseball season.
Spring training has been underway for a little while and excitement continues to build up for opening day. It's going to be great to see my Phillies in action again, hopefully with another World Series win.
From what I have seen and heard, the Fightin' Phils have been doing well in spring training, winning a lot of their games. I hope this is a sign that they'll have a great season.
I've been lucky to have seen the Phillies twice on opening day, the first against the Mets and the other against Marlins. The Mets game was also the first time I ever saw the Phillies in person. That game was really tight right up until the 9th inning, when the Mets eventually won (Kevin, you can gloat just a little on that one.)
The Phillies/Mets game was a warm, clear night, great weather for all. The Phillies/Marlins game was freezing. We were sitting in the stands with gloves on, but we sucked it up and made it through the whole game. The Phillies came out on top too.
I have seen the Phillies in person four times (that number must increase) and have only seen them lose once. All but one game was a trip sponsored by ESU, and the other was a family outing, a gift from my sister and I for mother's/father's day.
In all I've seen the Phillies play the Mets, Marlins, Braves and Nationals, all at home. The Phils/Nats game was on a beautiful sunny day early in the summer. My family and I walked into the stadium early enough that we actually got to see the teams warming up. That was pretty neat. The day was even better when the Phillies showed the Nationals who was boss.
It was my mom and brother's first Phillies game ever and my dad's first in the new stadium, so I was very happy that they got to see the team win.
Spring is so close, which means opening day will be here before we know it. Let's go Phils!
