— A ServSafe Food Protection Certification Course will be offered March 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 19 from 8:30 a.m. to noon (testing included in this time) at the PPL Environmental Learning Center, 126 PPL Drive in Hawley.
This course is for individuals seeking initial food safety certification or renewing food safety certification. Participants are required to attend all class sessions prior to taking the exam.

A Cooking for Crowds workshop will be held March 12 form 6 to 9 p.m. at the Penn State Extension office in Monroe County, 724 Phillips St, Suite 201, Stroudsburg.
Examples of who should attend are organizers of church dinners, fire company barbecues and school booster club hoagie sales, club bake sales. Nonprofit food fundraisers are an excellent way to socialize with the community while earning money for the organization.
Topics include: Foodborne illness, why risk it?; the causes of foodborne illness; preventing the conditions that lead to foodborne illness; safe purchasing, storage, preparation, and service for a crowd; cleaning and sanitizing; planning a safe event; and general guidelines for events.
The cost is $35 for each (will receive a manual and thermometer) or $10 each (will not receive a manual and thermometer).
