    Col. Jack Jacobs
On March 9, 1968, Col. Jacobs, then First Lieutenant, was with the lead companies of his South Vietnamese Battalion when, without warning, they came under intense fire from mortars, rifles and machine guns by a Vietcong enemy force.
Within minutes, many of the battalion were killed or wounded. The wounded included Col. Jacobs, hit by an exploding mortar that sent shrapnel tearing through the top of his head and face, breaking most of the bones in his face and causing the loss of sight in one eye.
In complete disregard of his wounds, he dragged his badly wounded American sergeant to safety and then returned to the battle to save others, each time through a hail of enemy fire. He kept at it until he finally collapsed from his wounds.
Rotated back to the states to recover, Col. Jacobs returned to Vietnam in 1972 and was wounded yet again. For his actions that March day, Jacobs was presented the Medal of Honor by President Richard Nixon on Oct. 9, 1969.
    Robert F. Jerome
For 41 years, Jerome worked in the securities industry, 35 of them in a variety of positions for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and its predecessor firms, retiring in December 2011 as a Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer for the firm's client facing products and services.
Page 2 of 2 - In addition to his other responsibilities, for nearly a decade he headed the firm's program to honor the living recipients of the Medal of Honor.
Working with the Medal of Honor Foundation and the Medal of Honor Society, he oversaw the coordination of, and hosted, events nationwide honoring many of those awarded our nation's highest military honor for valor.
In December of 2011, he retired in order to devote his full time to work with the Medal of Honor Foundation and the Medal of Honor Society. In addition to working to fund the key initiatives of the foundation, he continues to host events around the country featuring these living heroes.
