    — Could history be in the making?
    Absolutely.
The Honesdale Lady Hornets will attempt to make history tonight when they play in the PIAA state tournament at Marywood University in Dunmore.
The Lady Hornets will be trying to win the first state playoff game in the history of Honesdale High School.
Coach Tracy Ludwig's cagers, 23-3, will take the floor at 7 p.m. to face off with Danville Area, which comes into the tournament with a record of 22-5.
The Lady Hornets earned the trip to the state tournament for the second straight year with a 47-43 win over Scranton Prep last weekend in Carbondale in the District 2 championship game.
Last year, the Lady Hornets came up short in their opening-round game at the state tournament but they are looking for more this year.
"Last year, we were just happy to be there," said senior Mary Martin. "We wanted to win, but it was all really new to us. This time, we're going to do some damage."
A large contingent of Honesdale fans are expected to be on hand at the fieldhouse on the university campus. The weather is expected to cooperate, as well, with temperatures in the 50s on Saturday, the same day as the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Scranton.
Danville Area School District is located near Interstate 80 east of Lewisburg.
If the Lady Hornets can muster a victory tonight, the team would then go to the second round of the tournament on Wednesday night.
The winner of tonight's contest will face the winner of the Bethlehem Catholic (24-2)-Bonner-Prendergast (16-8) game which was set for this afternoon at William Allen High School in Allentown.
The location and time of that game next Wednesday has not been determined.
