Set aside Tuesday, April 9 at noon for lunch at the Hotel Wayne in Honesdale for a lively talk about herbs.

Patricia Libutti, ebullient and knowledgeable, is coming to town. She has a lifelong interest in nature and plants. For years she has studied herbs, reading and researching, consulting other passionate horticulturists and experimenting with various methods for growing herbs.

Libutti lives in Teaneck, N.J., where she has long been active with the city's garden club, at one time heading their Herb Garden group. In addition to being a Master Gardener, she is a member of the Herb Society of America.

She has specialized in herb history, growth and use; she is fascinated by Native American and medicinal uses of herbs.

Librarian, artist and teacher, Libutti has put her skills to good use, as she has given lectures and conducted classes for both adults and children. Her enthusiasm and extensive background can be sampled in her blog the Urban Herban

Choosing, propagating, harvesting and cooking with herbs are just some of the topics covered. Her interviews with other passionate gardeners will entice you.

Libutti has been visiting Wayne County for years, appreciating the beautiful countryside, native plants, local artists and the talents in the community.

She's looking forward to this gathering, where she will highlight six herbs, talking about their propagation, use in recipes and their history and lore. Expect an engaging and interactive presentation, as Libutti shares her delight in the fascinating world of herbs.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wayne County Public Library. All proceeds will benefit the library.
