What do a French bulldog, an average 12 month old baby, 80 sticks of butter and a car tire have in common? They all weigh 20lbs. They also put into perspective the amount of weight I have lost in the past two months.
I am down 22.4 to be exact as of this week’s weigh in!
It’s a mini milestone for me, but one worth celebrating. I still have a long journey ahead to get back to my “fighting weight”. These extra pounds I’ve been carrying around didn’t appear overnight and they’re going to take willpower, hard work and persistence to take off.
I’m still proud though! And it feels good not to be lugging the equivalent of Thanksgiving turkey around 24/7. I have more energy. I sleep better. I simply feel better overall.
I was determined to hit the 20lb mark this week. I sort of knew by Tuesday night when I stepped on the bathroom scale that it was going to happen, but I wasn’t taking any chances. I snuck in some extra exercise whenever I could and was even more focused on tracking WW points. I walked uptown to run errands despite the cold weather. I made sure that I did at least 30 minutes of weights, crunches and leg lifts every night no matter what. I even went so far as to have cereal for dinner the night before weigh in. I had my eye on the prize!
For me, this is no longer a diet. It’s a lifestyle change that I’m making. I sincerely did not think I had the time to fit keeping a food diary, exercising and writing a weekly column into my already busy schedule when I started this adventure eight weeks ago. Now, it has become routine. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can.
As I’ve met this goal, my next will be to hit the 25lb mark before WNM ends. The work does not stop there though. My ultimate goal is to be at the same weight I was at 17 by Christmastime.
When I first shared with friends and family that I was participating in this year’s WNM challenge they told me “You’ve got this Michelle”! You know what? I think they were right!
