  • Still Waters Run Deep: Feeling Like a Kid Again

  • If you've been reading and paying attention to any of my previous columns you've already figured out that I'm a huge penguin fan (with the exception of the NHL hockey team).

Well my excitement for penguins was escalated recently when I was browsing Facebook and one of the pages I "like" was advertising a contest where you could win a trip to Orlando for a new attraction opening in May at Sea World. What's the attraction you ask? Why it's "Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin."
My mouth dropped, my excitement grew, and it was just like the title of this column says: I was acting like a kid again. But there's nothing wrong with that. It's like that saying, "a kid at heart."
Penguins will always get me excited no matter what age I am.
Sea World was one of my favorite places when my family took trips to Florida around my birthday a few times. I'd love to go back and visit all the parks again, and now I have an even greater reason to go back to Sea World. Along with the new attraction, I'd have actual penguins too.
You can laugh at me for my penguin love, but it doesn't change the facts. I can't wait for this new attraction to open and to visit.
To bring up another topic, the Oscars were this weekend. I'm not one to really watch awards shows like that, but I'll sometimes catch a little here and there. I just don't really get into them. But of course, who needs to watch when you have Facebook and Twitter posts giving you the 411.
That's how I found out about Jennifer Lawrence's fall. Once that happened I knew it was going to be a highlight. Not that it's a good thing she fell, but it's funny how people change perspective when something like that happens.
As many awards that are given out and the musical performances that take place, all it takes is one little slip-up to be the talk of the town. So if they don't remember anything else, the most memorable highlight of the Oscars will be Jennifer Lawrence's fall.
