  • STROUDSBURG — Each year the Leadership Pocono class is divided into groups to work on a project that benefits their local community.
This year, one group has been given the assignment of creating a marketing plan and promotional material that will assist in promoting the Anger Management Course that is offered by Catholic Social Services.
The group has met on a number of occasions with Tom Regan, Program Coordinator and Nitza Desire – Manpower and Catholic Social Services Board Member, to compose a plan that will increase attendance of the class.
"I think it's important for the community to know that there is a resource and program available to reduce the incidents of domestic violence and violence in general. I also think it is important for businesses and corporations to be aware of a program that addresses work-place violence and harassment," said Tom Regan, Program Director of Catholic Social Services.
The Leadership Pocono students have been working diligently to bring forth the best approach to get the message across to both the court system as well as other local outlets.
Not only is this program beneficial to those individuals that are court mandated to complete the course, but it is also going to benefit anyone that may need help in managing their anger or stress from day to day.
The group will make recommendations for the future expansion of the Anger Management program and are hoping to see the course implemented into local businesses, schools, and as a part of employee wellness programs.
The group is on target to complete the project by May 2013 and will give a presentation at The Sherman Theatre in June 2013.
Leadership Pocono is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce. The program was established in 1997. Leadership Pocono provides the identification, development and empowerment of excellence in business, personal and community leadership.
A learning experience like no other, where those who shape our community tomorrow develop leadership skills from those who are doing it today. Over 200 individuals have successfully completed this intensive program and are contributing to the communities in which they live and work.
