— On March 9 a benefit will be held at Joey C's to help raise money for Hailey Kerwin, a six month old with severe reflux with apnea spells.
The benefit is to help raise money for medical expenses and other basic bills.
"It's a life threatening reflux and Hailey is on a feeding tube to help reduce reflux in her intestines," said her mom, Amanda. "She has been life-flighted several times."
Hailey started showing signs of severe reflux when she was two to three weeks old.
"She was always a fussy baby and I knew something was wrong," said Amanda. "She was diagnosed when she was around a month old."
Hailey has had surgery done on "a number of different things," including tightening the esophagus. Due to this, she needs around the clock medical attention, so Amanda stopped working to stay with her at home. Hailey also has her dad, Josh, and brother Gavin.
"We don't have definite answers as to when she'll grow out of it, but Hailey is making progress," Amanda said. "She's finally growing and gaining weight."
Planning for the benefit started with Apple Day Spa, where Amanda works.
"They wanted to do something for Hailey and we went from there," Amanda said.
The benefit will take place from 6-11 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. They are available at Dave's Super Duper, Apple Day Spa, Dirlam Brothers Lumber and Waymart Beverage.
There will be food, desserts, soda and draft beer. You are welcome to bring your favorite wine or spirit if you want as well. There will be prizes raffled off throughout the night, a silent auction, 50/50's and also gun raffles. N.E. Fire Arms is providing the guns.
Mercy for the Gimp will be the band and there will also be a DJ. Money raised will go to help with expenses incurred.
