The Rotary Club of Hawley recognized the following Wallenpaupack Seniors as Students of the Month, recently.
Seth Jones, son of Melissa and Tim Jones of Hawley, was named the Rotary Club of Hawley’s December Student of the Month. Seth’s volunteer activities include serving lunches at the Sojourner Café, teaching Vacation Bible School, volunteering at the Open Closet clothing giveaway, the Community Pantry Christmas Shopping, Helping Hands Youth Group and the 30 Hour Famine. He also assists with Camp Watonka 5th grade science camp. His school activities include Show and Chamber Choirs, the Spring Musical, Scholastics, and Environmental Clubs. A member of the National Honor Society, Seth plans to attend Mansfield University majoring in fisheries.
The December Student of the Month, Rebeka Galeano, is a member of Volunteers in Paupack. The daughter of Rose Galeano-Phillips of Hawley, she volunteers with Winterfest, the Hawley Rotary Tip-Off Tournament, Lance Armstrong 5K, the United Way Day of Caring and SADD. In 2011-2012 Rebeka studied in Venezuela as a Rotary Exchange Student. Among her school activities are Science Olympiad, softball, foreign language club and the National Honor Society. After graduation, Rebeka plans to attend college majoring in microbiology.
Emma Ricupero, the January Student of the Month, is the daughter of Robin and Chuck Ricupero of Canadensis. She volunteers at her church’s food pantry, community dinners, Project Success, childcare at church and several other activities. Emma helps with Barrett Library book sales and serves on the Teen Advisory Board for the library. At WAHS, she works on many projects with the Art Club, is a member of the Foreign Language Club as well as a member of the National Honor Society. Following high school, Emma plans to pursue a career in fashion illustration, studying at Pratt Institute.
