– The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), a not-for-profit organization and one of the nation’s leading gifted summer programs, is once again hosting its camp for academically talented students at the Bryn Mawr College in the summer of 2013.
The three-week program is open to students between the ages of 9 and 14 and runs from June 30 through July 20. Students live in the Bryn Mawr dormitories and select courses of interest from a wide variety of academic, art and recreational classes that meet daily.
Participants of the SIG at Bryn Mawr program immerse themselves in a truly unique camp experience designed to help them mature and develop as they create long-lasting relationships and increase their self-confidence and thinking in divergent ways – all within a safe and secure environment.
Students are recommended to apply early as spots in the program fill quickly. Need-based financial assistance and scholarships are available and vary by program type and campus.
Bryn Mawr is one of the world’s most distinctive, distinguished colleges. Founded in 1885, the private institution ranked 26th in the 2013 edition of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges by the U.S. News and World Report.
The mission of SIG is to provide the highest quality educational and social opportunities for academically gifted and talented students through programs designed to meet their abilities and needs. SIG is a program of the National Society for Gifted and Talented (NSGT), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
SIG also offers its Day Program at Bryn Mawr College for younger students between the ages of 5 and 8. For students living within driving distance of Bryn Mawr or any of SIG’s residential program campuses (except Princeton), a lower cost commuter option is offered for a limited number of students. Students can take advantage of the academic and social advantages of a SIG program while living at home.
SIG’s three-week residential programs for gifted children ages 9-18, are held at 10 of America’s finest college campuses: Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Emory University, Princeton University, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, the University of Chicago, UT Austin, Vassar College and Yale University. The SIG Day Program is offered for younger students, ages 4-12, at campuses across the country and SIG University Prep, a three-week intensive college preparatory program, is also available for students ages 15-18 at the University of Chicago and Yale University.
