Week 5 down and I'm pleased to say that I'm also down another 2.8lbs. It wasn't a huge loss, but it was a loss and I'll take it!
A few things I've discovered…
It's difficult to use all of my points in a day! As you know, I'm following Weight Watchers and measure points vs. calories. I've noticed that I'm coming in well below my target. I'm happy about this, but I do remember during one of the countless weight loss meetings that I've attended or in one of the things I've read along the way that if you eat too little it impedes your weight loss. Your body decides that you are starving it and it begins rebelling.
Clementines are one of my new favorite fruits! I've always been a "picky" eater. I like bananas, raisins and canned peaches. I'm not a model student when it comes to my fresh fruit intake. Clementines were my trial fruit this week and I have been consuming 2/day and loving it! I'm going to test drive cherries next.
If you've ever seen "The Paper" starring Michael Keaton you will understand my love of Coca-Cola. I have not consumed a REAL, Classic Coke since the start of the New Year. Anyone who knows me knows that this is a huge accomplishment! It is my liquid heroin. Instead I've been drinking no less than 9 glasses of pure water daily plus my usual morning coffee and a very occasional "Diet" Coke. Funny thing is, most days I don't even miss the caramel colored gold and I actually prefer straight water to diet colas.
I've heard that when someone stops smoking that their taste buds come back to life. I think that this also happens to dieters. I've noticed that food tastes better! I had lasagna primavera with grilled chicken this week and although it was light on cheese, the fresh tomatoes and zucchini were bursting with flavor.
As we approach Week 6, I know that the fight is going to intensify. Every pound is going to be a hard win. If I continue to lose 1-2 lbs per week I should be able to hit my personal 12 week goal of 21. Until next week!
