The Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) Fair received top honors at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg this year. On January 11, Farm Show officials presented the GDS Fair with a 1st Place Blue Ribbon and $1,000 prize for creation of their PA Preferred Display, highlighting products produced in Pennsylvania.
How did they do it?
Entries were judged on their appearance, theme, and number of PA Preferred products on display.
Competing against participating Fairs across the Commonwealth, the GDS Fair welcomed the chance to promote the local products that come from our region.
The Fair would like to recognize our local PA Preferred businesses for their generous support: Myer the Florist (Milford), Paupack Blueberry Farm (Paupack), Yatsonsky’s Farm Market (Honesdale), Tuttle’s Apiary (Honesdale), Shemanski Maple Syrup (Waymart), Matt’s Farm Market (Lake Ariel), Stone Silo Foods (Gouldsboro), Creamworks Dairy (Waymart), Mount Pleasant Herbary (Forest City), The Fork at Twin Lakes Restaurant (Shohola), and Palazzi Gardening (Newfoundland). All of these businesses are actively growing, producing or utilizing quality products right here in Pennsylvania, many of them right in your backyard.
The GDS Fair encourages you to look for the PA Preferred logo when you are out on your next shopping trip. Your purchase of these quality products supports local agriculture; our neighboring farms, nurseries, and producers; and increases the economic viability of our communities.

The Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) Fair runs the last week of August through Labor Day. For the 2013 fair schedule or to find out how to submit your prize-worthy entry, visit the website at www.gdsfair.org.
