LAKE ARIEL — A structure fire occurred at 4157 Woodcrest Lane in The Hideout on Wednesday night.
As of press time Thursday attempts to gather information were unsuccessful, but Lake Ariel Fire Chief, Mike DiPierro, provided the newspaper with information later on.
DiPierro said a cause for the blaze is unknown at this time. The Lake Ariel Fire Company was dispatched around 8 p.m. and arrived on scene with six trucks within five minutes.
"Thank God we got there fast," DiPierro said. "You could see the fire about four miles away."
There was a major exposure problem with the neighbor's house, but he said they were able to contain it fast and no damage was done to the neighbor's house.
Lake Ariel had around 30 firefighters on scene and there were around 60 total, including EMS. Assisting were Ledgedale, Hamlin, Jefferson and Lakeville.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries occurred. The neighbors took the family's dog.
The American Red Cross Wayne Pike Chapter and public safety also assisted at the fire.
The Red Cross provided the family of two adults and five children with lodging, food, clothing, shoes, seasonal garments, a portable crib with linens and contact lens replacement. Public safety provided a rehab trailer.
DiPierro said it was a "total loss." The fire departments were on scene until 11:30 p.m.
