Two of Honesdale's native sons were promoted to Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy on the same day.
GSMC Michael Polt and FTC Robert Polt, formerly from Seelyville, were advanced to the rank of E7 on that date.
The promotion happened on Sept. 14, 2012.

Robert was promoted at the naval base at San Diego, Calif., with his fiance Laura Struckman and his brother Donald Polt, a captain in the U.S. Army reserve in attendance.
He graduated from Honesdale High School and attended Penn State University before joining the navy in 2004.
Michael, also a Honesdale High graduate, joined the navy in 1999. Michael is an Engineering Chief Petty Officer aboard the Kaufman.
Robert is a Fire Control Chief Petty Officer stationed at San Diego navy base, and travels all over the Pacific troubleshooting and training various ships' members.
