I just returned from my first weekly weigh in & I'm very happy to report that I'm down 7.4 lbs! The scale teetered between 7.4-7.6 for a few moments, but in the end 7.4 prevailed.
I've been down this road enough times to know that was mostly water weight and I cannot expect the same result every week. If I could, I'd be thin.
The real struggle begins week two.
Guy and I are quite competitive by nature, so I was happy that my threats of "I'm coming for you Mathews!" held true and I didn't have to eat crow (how many calories is that?) at the delight of Mr. (Now) 264.4 Things You Never Want To See In A Speedo! In spite of the jesting between us, TEAM TWI is down a total of 9.6 lbs and counting.
I'm following Weight Watchers (WW) online. I have been diligent about keeping an honest food diary, drinking 8-10 glasses of water each day and sneaking in some exercise here and there.
Portion control always amazes me when I follow it with the intensity that I have been these past seven days. You really do not realize how much we overeat as a society until you actually eat the proper serving size.
I have also begun drinking 24 ozs of water with every meal. Sipping between bites fills you up so much more quickly and helps you reach your goal of 64-80 oz per day that much faster.
One of my big victories this week involved a Chocolate Mocha Latte that our Hawley Sales Manager, Glenn Khoury was thoughtful enough to bring me on Tuesday. (I think Guy may have bribed him to sabotage me.) That was mighty tempting until I discovered that it contained 15 WW points. I'm proud to say I did not indulge.
Exercise is my week two focus. Last night I began a 20-minute regimen of stretches, crunches and floor exercises that Lucy at the Y was kind enough to suggest. Jim dug out the weights and I've started with 2.5 lb to tone. Our border collie Riley has adopted the role of trainer. She's very excited about our new exercise routine.
With a team like that I'm destined for success!
