The Northeastern Pennsylvania Maple Syrup Producer's Association Annual Meeting and Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to about 1:30 p.m., at the Bethany Methodist Church Hall, Route 670, in the village of Bethany.
— The Northeastern Pennsylvania Maple Syrup Producer's Association Annual Meeting and Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to about 1:30 p.m., at the Bethany Methodist Church Hall, Route 670, in the village of Bethany.
The annual meeting will feature reports from the 2013 Pennsylvania Farm Show – Maple Syrup/Maple Products Show, a report from the Pennsylvania Maple Council meeting, an announcement of the 4th Annual Self-Guided Maple Tour in Wayne, Susquehanna, Pike and Lackawanna counties, the announcement of the Pennsylvania State Maple Tour set for Sept. 19- 21 hosted by the "Northeastern Pennsylvania Maple Syrup Producer's Association," an election of a board member to serve on the Association plus other maple syrup product- related topics.
In addition, Bob Molinaro, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture – Food Sanitarian/Food Inspector, from the Northeast Region Office, in Tunkhannock, will share and explain the current regulations and guidelines affecting maple syrup/maple syrup products produced by area maple syrup producers. His timely presentation will begin at 10 a.m.
Other annual meeting activities will include a demonstration by Kristin Curtis, Journey's End Farm, about making maple cream, an opportunity to view maple syrup exhibits and an opportunity to re-new association membership and to purchase needed maple syrup production equipment and supplies from a local maple syrup production dealer.
A noontime dinner of pancakes, 100 percent pure maple syrup, eggs, sausage, home fries and ice cream (for dessert) will be served by the Bethany Methodist Church women.
The cost of the dinner is $9 per person. Dinner reservations are required and can be called-in to the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office at: 1-570-253-5970, extension 4110, or, by E-Mail at WayneExt@PSU.EDU. The dinner reservation deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Area residents, interested in "Maple Syrup Production" are encouraged to attend this meeting. Current membership in the association is not required.
