  • — It's a boy!
The first baby born at Wayne Memorial Hospital's New Beginnings Birthing Suites, Joseph William Yorks, arrived in the world on Jan. 1 at approximately 6:19 pm.
The first child for parents Susan and Joshua Yorks of Waymart weighed in at 7 pounds, 4.5 ounces and stretched 19 inches long.
Little Joseph was welcomed by New Beginnings staff with a "First Baby of 2013" basket full of items both practical and fun — from onesies to toys. Both parents admitted Joseph did not come into the world without some hard work, more than a few hours labor, but they were very happy to have a healthy newborn.
The baby was delivered by Dr. Thomas O'Brien, a board-certified obstetrician with the Women's Health Center, Honesdale, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers.
