The Pennsylvania State Police, Honesdale, are investigating a Craig's List scam.
The Pennsylvania State Police, Honesdale, are investigating a Craig's List scam. In a release, the PSP state an unknown actor(s) contacted the victim, 26-year-old Jessica Lopez of Hamlin, through the website Craig's List. The actor(s) ten sent a fake check "for the amount of $1930 to the victim for a $700 payment of the victim's flat screen TV."
The victim then sent a money order for the amount of $1,161 to the unknown actor(s). Several days later, the check came back as fraudulent and the money was sent to a fictitious person.
Should anyone have information related to this incident, contact PSP Honesdale at 570-253-7126. The station asks the community to be more vigilant in identifying internet scams. If someone sends you a payment for an item over the asking value, do not cash the check.
On Dec. 21, 23-year-old James Morris of Brooklyn, NY was charged with Disorderly Conduct after he was found "urinating along the interstate" in Roaring Brook Township.
On Dec. 22, PSP Dunmore responded to Jefferson St. in Simpson for "a complaint of an ongoing neighbor dispute" between Neil White, 49, and Jeffrey Alexander, 29.
As a result, Alexander was charged with disorderly conduct after "it is alleged that he used spray foam to fill a drain pipe, and causing a buildup of ice on a sloped driveway/walkway."
White responded by making threats of bodily harm against Alexander. White was charged with harassment.
