— A comprehensive four-week Childbirth Education series for expectant parents will be offered by Wayne Memorial Hospital and the Women’s Health Center, a part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) which offers maternity services including prenatal, labor and delivery and postpartum care.
The program, scheduled to meet Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital will be presented by Certified Childbirth Educator Kristine Price, RN.
Topics to be explored include: third trimester pregnancy overview, labor process and stages, vaginal versus Caesarean births, pain management, role of the support person, postpartum period and infant care. Classes also feature a tour of New Beginnings, Wayne Memorial Hospital’s maternity unit.
The option of a one-day condensed class will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fee for the comprehensive class is $75; the condensed class is $60.
The cost of the classes are covered for women belonging to Pennsylvania’s Healthy Beginnings Plus Program, a state run program serving the needs of low-income women by helping them achieve a positive pregnancy experience.
