  • HONESDALE - The following cases were addressed last Thursday by the Honorable Raymond L. Hamill, President Judge, Wayne County:
    CHRISTOPHER LEE VALVERDE, age 27 of Dupont, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Institution for a period of not less than 9 months nor more than 24 months for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor, one count of Unauthorized Use of Automobiles and Other Vehicles, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree and one count of Driving While Operating Privilege Suspended/Revoked, graded as a Summary Offense. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $500.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment and attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program. The incident occurred on January 20, 2012, in Lehigh Township when Lehigh Township Police were called to investigate the report of a one vehicle crash. His BAC was .081%.
    EDWARD KELSEY, age 51 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Prison for a period of not less than 57 days nor more than 12 months for one count of DUI, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $300.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment and attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program. The incident occurred on December 15, 2002, in Mt. Pleasant Township when Pennsylvania State Police were called to investigate the report of a one vehicle crash. His BAC was .25%.
    MARLENA MARIA OLVER, age 26 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 10 days nor more than 12 months for two counts of Disorderly Conduct, graded as Misdemeanors of the 3rd Degree and one count of Driving While Operating Privilege Suspend/Revoked, graded as a Summary offense. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $400.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, continue with mental health treatment and complete an anger management program. The incident occurred on March 12, 2012, in Texas Township when Olver became irate at a local school.
    HANNAH LOUISE CROSSMAN, age 20 of Honedale, PA was sentenced, in three separate cases, to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 10 months and 15 days nor more than 54 months for one count of Possession of Controlled Substance, an ungraded Misdemeanor, one count of Criminal Conspiracy-Engaging, graded as a Felony of the 2nd Degree and one count of Forgery, graded as and Felony of the 3rd Degree. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $5,725.07, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of the sample, perform 100 hours of community service, undergo a drug an alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, and continue with mental health treatment. The occurred between April 23, 2012, and May 5, 2012, in Dyberry Township.
    Page 2 of 3 - SAMUEL JOSEPH WEST, age 34 of Waymart, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Institution for a period of not less than 20 months nor more than 120 months for two counts of Risking Catastrophe, graded as Felonies of the 3rd Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $2,788.00, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of the sample. The incident occurred on March 30, 2012, in Honesdale Borough when West set a fire near two local businesses.
    JOSEPH LLOYD SHIELDS, age 52 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 3 days nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI-Highest Rate, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay a fine in the amount of $1,000.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, attend and complete an alcohol highway safety program and perform 50 hours of community service. The incident occurred on April 7, 2012, in Canaan Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Shields travel onto the berm of the road. His BAC was .197%.
    ROBERT DANIEL BENNETT, age 29 of Honesdale, PA was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 9 months nor more than 5 years less 1 day for one count of Statutory Sexual Assault, graded as a Felony of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs, pay restitution in the amount of $1,500.00, undergo a sex offender evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, have no contact with the victim in this matter, have no unsupervised contact with any person under the age of 18, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost of the sample and obtain full time employment upon being released from prison. The incident occurred on June 9, 2012, in Honesdale Borough when Bennett had sexual intercourse with a minor female victim.
    ANTHONY TOMASELLO, age 20 of Tyler Hill, PA pled guilty to one count of Defiant Trespass, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 3rd Degree and one count of Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, graded as a Summary offense. The incident occurred on July 1, 2012, in Berlin Township when Tomasello and a co-defendant attempted to break into a local business. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21, 2013.
    MICKEY ALLEN ZINTEL, age 18 of Beach Lake, PA pled guilty to one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree and one count of Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, graded as a Summary offense. The incident occurred between March 29, 2011, and July 1, 2012, in Berlin Township when and a co-defendant attempted to break into a local business. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21, 2013.
    Page 3 of 3 - SEAN PATRICK MCDONOUGH, age 32 of Honesdale, PA pled guilty to one count of DUI-Highest Rate, an ungraded Misdemeanor. The incident occurred on August 11,2012, in Honesdale Borough when Pennsylvania State Police observed McDonough speeding. His BAC was .231%. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 28, 2013.
    JOSEPH ROBERT MAHN, age 21 of Honesdale, PA pled guilty to one count of DUI/Sch 1 Controlled Substance, an ungraded Misdemeanor. The incident occurred on May 19,2012, in Cherry Ridge Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Mahn travel across the double yellow line. At that time Mahn was under the influence of Marijuana, Oxycodone and Alprazolam. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 28, 2013.
    MARVIN FLINT, age 21 of Carbondale, PA pled guilt to one count of Burglary, graded as a Felony of the 1st Degree and one count of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition, graded as a Felony of the 3rd Degree. The incident occurred on September 13, 2012, in Salem Township when broke into a private residence. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21, 2013.
    MELISSA LYNN TRUAX, age 44 of Hawley, PA pled guilty to one count of DUI: Controlled Substance Schedule 2 or 3-1st Offense, an ungraded Misdemeanor. The incident occurred on July 5, 2012, in Pauapck Township when Pennsylvania State Police observed Truax swerve in her lane. At that time Truax was under the influence of several controlled substances. She is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21, 2013.
