HONESDALE — On Dec. 6, the Honesdale Borough Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for a Jason Ginnetto for felony theft by deception and six counts of misdemeanor bad checks.
Ginnetto allegedly purchased over $5,500 worth of jewelry from several Honesdale area businesses in November.
He issued a total of six checks to pay for the jewelry, all of which were returned due to the account having been closed. After making the purchases, Ginnetto sold the jewelry at other Honesdale area businesses for cash.
The Wayne County Detectives are investigating a similar incident in Hawley Borough involving Ginnetto.
Additional charges are expected to be filed in that case.
Any local businesses that have received bad checks from Ginnetto are asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sean LeStrange at the Honesdale Borough Police Department at (570) 253-1900.
