  • -Staff and members of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary had a Christmas party Sunday at the glass museum.
Those in attendance were able to enjoy food and time with friends. They could also look around the museum and pick up items from the gift shop.
It was a party that closed out the season for Dorflinger Sanctuary. However, the trails will still be open for members to walk, cross-country ski, etc. It will open again to the public in May.
The property is 600 acres. It has the wildlife sanctuary, glass museum and the wildflower music festival.
Christian Dorflinger turned it into an industrial center in the 1860s. Dorflinger Glass Works produced cut lead crystal for more than half a century, remaining until 1921.
The website, www.dorflinger.org, says that dorflinger glass has been part of America's “finest tables, including those of several White House administrations.”
Admission to the glass museum is $3 for adults, $2.50 for members and seniors (55+), and $1.50 for ages 6-18. Group rates are also available for 15 or more.
Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Elizabeth Street and Long Ridge Road in White Mills. They can be reached at (570) 253-1185.
