On Thursday the Wayne County Commissioners approved the re-appointment of Dan O'Neill and David Gregory, and the Conservation District nominations for Tom Dashke and Brian Smith.
Dan O'Neill is part of the Wayne Health and Hospital Authority Board and David Gregory is part of the Wayne Industrial Development Authority Board. Their re-appointments will run from Jan. 1, 2013 until Dec. 31, 2017.
Tom Daschke is the Farmer Director for the Wayne County Conservation District. His re-election will run from Jan. 1, 2013 until Dec. 31, 2016.
Daschke is also part of the PA Farmer's Bureau and is a government liaison for the local farm bureau.
Brian Smith was nominated as the Commissioner Director for the Conservation District. This position runs on one year terms.
The county was awarded the Hazard Mitigation Grant to update its program. The grant money is from PEMA and it's worth $54,921. The commissioners said the county share will be three percent, which amounts to $1,647.
The preventative services agreement and student assistance program agreement between Wayne County Drug & Alcohol and the Wallenpaupack School District was approved. It allows Wayne County Drug & Alcohol to provide prevention programs in schools.
Commissioner Wendall Kay said there used to be a grant for the program but they don't get it anymore. Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is paying $3,000 to help offset the costs.
The agreement was previously approved for Wayne Highlands and Western Wayne as well.
Changes in meetings and courthouse hours
The Commissioners' meeting schedule for December and January 2013 have been announced.
The worksessions that were scheduled for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 have been cancelled.
The courthouse and other affiliated buildings will close on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 at 1:30 p.m.
The Commissioners' business meeting will be held on Jan. 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
