  •  – It was an evening of fun, dancing and celebration — for a cause which is very somber.
On Friday night, the first “Live to Love Lives On” celebration sponsored by the Victims Intervention Program (VIP) was held at Erhrardt’s Waterfront Resort.
The fundraising event was held to benefit community members effected by domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes.
The night featured a social hour, dinner and dancing to the tunes of EJ the DJ.
There was also a silent auction with items donated by members of the business community and public. Door prizes were also given away, there was a 50-50 raffle which netted $150 and there was also a drawing for a two night stay donated by The Inn at Starlight Lake. Sue Mann was the lucky winner of that prize, which also included a dinner and two full breakfasts.
During the silent auction, the big money maker was a generator donated by Burt and Annette Chapman, owner of NAPA Automotive in Honesdale. That prize earned nearly $700 for VIP.
Dinner sponsors included platinum level in memory of Barb Varcoe, silver sponsors Honesdale National Bank along with Mario and Dee Ann Andretti. Bronze sponsors were Citizens Savings Bank, Jonathan and Donna Fritz and Dr. Paul Drummond.
VIP Executive Director Michelle Minor Wolf opened the evening with brief remarks outlining the role of VIP in the community.
We work to educate the community on the issues of domestic and sexual violence, we empower victims to make the best choices for their individual situations and we invite the community to envision a world free from violence,” wrote Wolf in a letter which appeared in the program at the event.
She said all of the funds raised during the event would go toward providing crisis services to the victims and their families in Wayne County.

Following a family-style dinner, those in attendance spent the rest of the night on the dance floor boogying to a wide variety of music provided by EJ the DJ.
