  • EQUINUNK — Oct. 6 signified the end of the tours and demonstrations at the remarkable Joel Hill Sawmill in Equinunk for this year.
The Equinunk Historical Society's Civil War Era Sawmill crew sawed the last log, and the crowd celebrated another successful year at the old mill with the traditional treat of cider and doughnuts.
Attention now turns to the Historical Society's next series of entertaining events: the popular "First Fridays" programs at the Calder Cafe, beginning Nov. 2 and continuing until the first Friday in April.
On First Fridays, expect live and recorded music, performances by talented local musicians, comedic skits and whatever inventive entertainment the guests have come up with, while enjoying the camaraderie of neighbors and friends.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
If you would like to try out your tunes on an appreciative audience, call Pat at 224-0223.
The Cafe is intimate, so acoustic only please. Plan for a 15 minute time slot or three songs, your choice.
The Calder Cafe is located at the Equinunk Historical Society in the center of Equinunk. Doors open at 6 p.m., live entertainment starts about 7:15.
