  • The Wayne County Community Foundation Board of Directors is proud to select Charles (Chuck) and Dorothy Grimm to receive its highest recognition, the 2012, Ben Franklin Award for Community Service Award.
    The Award is named in honor of one of our Nation’s, “Founding Fathers,” Benjamin Franklin. With the selection goes a grant from the Foundation’s Ben Franklin Fun of $1,000 to a charity of Mr. and Mrs. Grimm’s choosing.
    The selection was made by the Foundation Board in recognition of Chuck and Dorothy’s years of service to their community. To their family, friends, employees, and customers they have given of their time, talents and resources offering a helping hand wherever and whenever it is needed. In short, they are always there to help everyone particularly the folks of Waymart and the organizations of that community. As lifelong residents in Waymart, they have been married 51 years and have three adult children, Chuck, Rob and Nancy. They have 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
    Chuck started Grimm Construction in 1975 and that business has grown to be one of the largest full-service construction businesses in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He currently serves as the president of Grimm Construction and Dorothy is the secretary/treasurer.
    They are members of Calvary United Methodist Church and are Life Members of the Waymart Historical Society. Chuck is a member of Freedom Lodge #88. He formerly served on the Administrative Board of the Church; was a member of Waymart Borough Council, the Waymart Municipal Authority and the Wayne County Agriculture Board. Dotty is a member of Laurel Chapter of the #67 OES, and has served as the treasurer for Waymart Borough. She also was a Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout leader.
    The Wayne County Community Foundation will host a dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs, Grimm on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Banquet Center. For more information please call 499-4299 for dinner reservations. A Commemorative Booklet is also being published to honor Chuck and Dotty.
