  • - Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is pleased to once again be hosting the Annual Chili Cook Off on Sunday, September 30, at the Harvest Festival. Sponsored by Jeff Bank, the Tenth Annual Chili Cook Off will feature surprises and excitement as community organizations pair up with culinary programs and area restaurants in a friendly competition of skill and spirit. Who will take the title this year? Come out and be the judge! A suggested $2 tasting donation will benefit participating organizations.
This year's competitors include Bethel Woods Center for the Arts for Youth Initiatives, Big Kev's BBQ for the Allyson Whitney Foundation, Brandenburg Pastry Bakery for WJFF, Dutch's Tavern for Sullivan County SPCA, Sullivan County BOCES and the Delaware Valley Job Corp.
The day will showcase on-stage performances by The Old Dawgz; The Janice Center; and The Shots and the Bergen County Firefighter's Pipe Band.
Also on site will be the SPCA with pet adoption information, and The Friends of New Hope Manor who will have their cookbook, "Favorites from Friends" available for purchase.
Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; parking lots open at 10:30 a.m. Admission to the Harvest Festival is free, with a $2 parking fee. Pets are not permitted on the Harvest Festival grounds.
The Festival will also feature its usual array of vendors and activities for the whole family, including the bountiful farmers market, diverse craft village, a children's area with educational programming, corn and hay mazes, arts and crafts workshops, pony rides and more. This week, the Bethel Woods art activity will allow children to make woven Mexican placemats.
Don't miss the last Harvest Festival event of the 2012 season on October 7, with the Rustic Craft Show, sponsored by Catskill Regional Medical Center and Van Gorders' Furniture.
This expanded specialty craft event will showcase wood carvings, handmade furniture, pottery, accessories and accents for the home. Just in time to begin your holiday shopping! On Stage: Six Stories Told; Main Street Dance; Slam Allen.
