HAWLEY – On Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 12 PM, the Woodloch Springs Country Club in Hawley, PA will tee off the 13th Annual BK Hope Cures Invitational Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for BK Hope Cures.
BK Hope Cures was established by Bob Kiesendahl (BK), co-owner of Woodloch Resort and leukemia survivor. The organization's mission is to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer.
Proceeds benefit The Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and LIVESTRONG.
The BK Invitational is Hope Cures signature annual golf tournament. Last year, the event had a showing of over 250 golfers, 80 sponsors, and 300 supporters. In addition to golf, the tournament features live entertainment, awards, and refreshments. Due to the increasing numbers of participants over the years, the event has grown into a two-day affair with two groups, one playing Sunday and another on Monday.
A cocktail party, dinner, and awards ceremony for all participants and sponsors concludes the event on Monday, October 1st at 5 P.M. at the Inn at Woodloch. Golfers will also compete to win prizes that include JetBlue vacation packages, airfare, and a boat.
The BK Invitational was recognized as a LIVESTRONG DAY Event, one of only 1200 throughout the
world. Last year, this event contributed $19,560 to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, and $33,966
to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Since its inception twelve years ago, the BK Invitational has donated a total of $254,508 to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute and $204,676 to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
"The BK Invitational brings us together each year to raise funds and awareness for a cause that needs our continued support. The tournament is an amazing example of how joining together in a shared mission we can make a difference in the fight against cancer," stated Bob Kiesendahl.
