- County residents are invited to share their ideas and concerns about economic development in Sullivan County at public meetings in Monticello and Liberty. Consultants from the firms of Wadley-Donovan GrowthTech, LLC and Garnet Consulting Services, Inc., will be present to discuss opportunities and answer questions about their study of the county economy.
Identical meetings will take place on Monday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at these two locations:
• Village of Liberty - Liberty High School's Media Center, 119 Buckley Street, Liberty
• Village of Monticello - Ted Stroebele Recreation Center, 2 Jefferson Street, Monticello
"Sullivan County has been the subject of many prior studies related to economic development. This project is not about preparing another plan. It is intended to identify recommendations from those prior plans that can have the most positive impact on the economy of our county and provide specific recommendations for implementation," said Scott Samuelson, who chairs the Sullivan County Legislature.
"Every county resident is a stakeholder in this effort and is encouraged to participate in the planning of our economic development future. We urge you to attend," said Ira Steingart, Chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee.
This event is being organized in partnership with the County Legislature, the Village of Monticello, the Village of Liberty, the Liberty CDC, the Sullivan County Visitors association, the Partnership for Economic Development, the IDA, the Workforce Development Board, the Chamber of Commerce and Sullivan Renaissance.
This project is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program through a grant from the Rural Business Opportunity Grant program.
