  • Greene-Dreher Historical Society presented a Moravian vine recently during a ceremony marking the 150th anniversary of the church.
The Moravian vine was designed by Friedrich von Watteville and Ludwig von Schweinitz in 1853. The original painting depicts worldwide Moravian congregations arranged as leaves on a large grapevine stemming from Christ on the cross.
Its design is based on John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches."
The updated vine displays all past and present North American congregations on the original template. Each congregation is represented with a leaf including its name, date of organization and end date (if applicable).
Current fellowships are also included. The leaves are organized chronologically by district and state, and will reflect where possible the "mother" congregations.
