Candis M. "Candi" Gilpin, 54, of Waymart, died Friday in the Commonwealth Hospice unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton following a brief illness.
She was married to her husband, Tom Gilpin, for thirty-five years.
Born in Honesdale on April 20, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mildred Hogencamp Dolph and graduated from Western Wayne High School in 1976.
A loving wife and mother and a wonderful grandmother, she also
maintained a very close relationship with her brothers and sisters. A devoted caregiver to all the people in her life, she was a calm and supportive influence and enlightened and inspired those around her.
Candi was a source of happiness, embraced life, and never gave up. She had a way with words and was a gifted writer, enjoyed doll making, and was very environmentally conscious. She also loved animals.
Also surviving are three daughters, Liz Libey, Calif.; Andrea Gilpin, Throop; and Tommi Leigh Gilpin, Waymart; two brothers, Lee Dolph, South Canaan; and Tom Dolph, McCallister, Okla.; three sisters, Sue Houck, Mt. Cobb; Debbie Kilhullen, Honesdale; and Mary Merring, Lake Ariel; four grandchildren, Octavia Libey, Lydia Gilpin, Thomas Gilpin--Bartkovsky, and Magdalena Kruchinski; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m.from the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart, conducted by Pastor Ronald Libey of the First Baptist Church of Gwinn, Mich.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the service begins.
