Josef A. Buchholz of Beach Lake, died Friday evening in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness. He is survived by his wife of 62 years the former Lilo Fetthauer.
He was born in Essen, Germany and was the son of the late Paul and Clara Schumacher Buchholz.
Prior to retirement he had been employed as a union Plummer in New York and Pennsylvania. He had been a semi-pro Soccer player in Germany and played for many years for the First German Sports club in Brooklyn. He also loved to hunt.
Also surviving are daughters Heidi Seeley and husbandRichard of Oak Ridge, NJ and Joerdis Stoepel of Wanaque, NJ; son-in-law Heiko Lienemann of East Northport, NY; grandchildren Brian and Mark Seeley, Dirk Stoepel and Lars and Bjoern Lienemann; great-grandchildren Noeha, Kailee, Ashley, Reese, Isabella, Dylan, Connor, Devyn, Marcus, Karsten and Brianna.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Ilona Lienemann; a son-in-law Frank Stoepel ; several brothers and sisters.
A Memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St Francis Xavier Church 151 Bridge St. Narrowsburg, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation at www.alzfd.org.
Cremation was held at the Lake Region Crematory a the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel Pa.
