Diana J. Bass, 69, of Honesdale, passed away­­­­­­­­ Wednesday, August 22,2012, at her home surrounded by loved ones 12 years to the day her husband died. She is the wife of the late Earl Bass who died August 22, 2000.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Bennedict Gelatt. She moved to Pennsylvania at a young age where she and her late brother William Gelatt were raised in Hawley and Honesdale. She was well known for her sense of humor and direct mannerisms as a waitress at the former Maple City Restaurant and also The Coffee Grinder where she enjoyed interacting with her many loyal customers. Diana was arguably the best waitress in Honesdale and is now serving in Heaven.

Diana is survived by her children, Clint Thompson of Jessup, William Thompson and his wife Mary of Chapmansboro, TN and daughter Catherine Larkin and her husband Francis of Arab, AL; grandchildren Jason Thompson, William J. Thompson, Timothy Thompson, Jane Thompson, Grace Larkin, Patricia Larkin and Clint J Thompson. She was preceded in death by her daughter Terri Thompson in 1983.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 10AM at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday from 5 to 8. Condolences: www.hesslingfuneralhome.com
