  • Florence V. Tanke of Pleasant Mount passed away on Sunday August 19th at home. Born in Newark, New Jersey on February 6, 1922. She was the daughter of the late August and Viola Volker.

  • Florence V. Tanke of Pleasant Mount passed away on Sunday August 19th at home. Born in Newark, New Jersey on February 6, 1922. She was the daughter of the late August and Viola Volker.
    Florence married William Karl Tanke Sr June of 1943. He preceded her in death in May 2001.
    She formerly lived in Highland Lakes, NJ. Florence was an active member in her church, Women's Club, and served for many years as a Girl Scout Leader.
    Florence loved to sew and quilt. She made quilts for everyone in the family, as well as lap robes for the area nursing homes, walker bags, ouchie pillows for the hospital, and decorations for the church. She was a member of the Pleasant Mount Quilters, and Cold Spring Chapel.
    Florence always said, "You are rich if you have family." Family was very important to her. Surviving are her daughter Adrian Crossman of Pleasant Mount; son William Tanke Jr. and his wife Peggy of Highland Lakes, NJ; and daughter Kathy Dunlevy and husband Hal of Franconia, Pa.; 6 grandchildren Scott Tanke, and his wife Kim, Holly Marrocco, Bonnie
    Crossman-Race and husband Don, Hal, Ruth and Ellen Dunlevy; and 4 great-grand children Patrick and Parker Tanke, Katie Marrocco, and Aurora Race; a brother Harry Volker and wife Pat, sister in law Midge Volker, sister in law Joan Volker, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Milo Crossman, and brothers George and Raymond Volker.
    There will be a viewing on Wednesday August 22 at 11:30am, followed by a memorial service at 12:30pm at the Cold Springs Chapel, Cold Springs PA.
    Interment will follow at Green Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Mount, Pa.
