When you go onto our website, you are going to find a new look.

Our site has undergone a major reconstruction, this coming in the middle of some other internal changes we have made.

The staff at the newspaper is working hard to make sure this transition is smooth.

We realize there might be some bumps along the way, but overall, we think you will find our new website refreshing. Change isn't always easy, but sometimes, it is necessary.

Another major change you are going to find is the fact you will now have to have a valid Facebook account to comment on our stories.

This is a change which will be shocking to some, but one we think is necessary.

Our comment sections have had controversy, for sure. Sometimes, a few of our regulars engage in beating down others. Though this is America, it can be disheartening at times.

Now, those who comment will have to leave their real names and must have a valid, verifiable Facebook account. That means if you have something to say, everyone will know your identity.

This is no different than our current letters to the editor policy. Only in extreme cases have we ever printed a letter without printing the name of the author.

That means our new website policy will match the same policy for the printed newspaper.

We're sure some will not like this change, however, we believe most people will accept and even see it as positive.

We've noticed on some hot topics, certain people will use the comment section to belittle others, all the while getting off the subject at hand.

As a newspaper, when we write a story or column, our names our attached. You know who wrote the controversial story on the front page or the personal column inside.

Our daily editorial is generally written by the editor. But even if a member of the staff writes the editorial, it still represents the view of the newspaper.

This new system will be a big adjustment for some and likely a very welcome change for most.

We ask that you bear with us as we learn this new system and get our processes honed. It won't be easy and we will make mistakes along the way, but overall, we believe it will work out for best in the end.

We appreciate your patience as we make this change and, as always, if you have questions, comments or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to answer your questions.
