- Celebrating its 5th year, Waystock has become a summer favorite in Wayne County. Reflecting back on the free spirit of the ’69 Woodstock Festival in Bethel New York, Waystock 2012, Music Fest and Street Fair, will features 10 free bands, and over 40 street vendors.
Lillian Rollison of the Waymart Parties in the Park Committee, is excited for the community to come out and experience Waystock first hand. She said Waystock has “good food, wonderful music” along with a plethora of “different and wonderful handmade crafts.”
This year, some of the vendors at the event include Dale B. Craft, Tiffany’s Shop, Miss Debbie’s Soaps, Youniquely Yours, The Indulgent Apothecary, Connie Booths, Karen’s Crafts, Matt Ryan concessions, Waymart Deli, Day’s Bakery, Linda’s Face-Painting, Wils Catering, Dead Ahead Gifts, Ros-Al Floral and Judi Goyette-Simons.
Rollison says that Waystock offers a unique opportunity to “do some pre-Christmas Christmas shopping.”
This year’s event has grown to include a Friday night kick-off party, from 6 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. with three bands rocking the night away. Then Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. the music fest will begin and will continue to rock Downtown Waymart until late in the evening.
Cat and Fiddle means rockin’ in the rhythm found in Tom-Cat juke joints wailing the Kool-Kat Chicago blues, finding the true country meaning of “Catsy” Cline sung in the PURRfect key, tracing the steps of the band and a big pink done CALICO-Style, visiting the real Woodstock playing in a feline frenzy as local historians publish the aftermath of Cat ‘n’ Fiddle fans clogging the interstate to paw around on the hallowed hippie grounds.
A look back at the ‘30s with Stephan Grapelli-esque flair from the Hot CATS of Paris, 1939. Close your eyes, lean back and see the Honky Tonk (boots and) Hank Williams leaning back to sing another cheatin song, or lean forward in time to see Mr. Bojangles playing CAT AND MOUSE with the law. Leaving town on the One
After Nine O Nine, well we’re letting the cat out of the bag that you should have a good time and don’t make it a Fur Piece down the line before you join us for a rockin’, swinging, reminiscin' and downright MEEEOWIN' good time.
Cat ‘n Fiddle will take the stage from 3 to 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.
Come spend the day, bring your lawn chair, blanket, sunscreen and of course the kids! A Kid Zone, including pony rides, will keep the little ones busy while you sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of our local bands.
The Waystock Committee would like to thank all the bands who donate their time to make this event a success.
Waystock 2012 sponsors must also be thanked, you are all the best, thank you for making our community a special one to live and work in.
