- This summer will bring the 150th Annual Wayne County Fair. This is a milestone for our area. The growth of the fair over these many years is exciting. Once again the grounds will be filled with fun and family entertainment. A record was set in 2006 when 93,825 people paid a visit. Fair President Roger Dirlam says they are hoping to share the 150th Wayne County Fair with even bigger crowds.
The 150th Wayne County Fair runs Aug. 3 – 11. Admittance – which remains $8 pay-one-price per person – includes admission to the fairgrounds, parking, and rides. “Come join in this long-standing tradition with exciting rides, fantastic stage shows, delicious food, great games, live animal exhibits and fun for the entire family all in one place,” says Fair Director and Treasurer Diane Mott.
“Take a ride on the largest Ferris Wheel on the East Coast, catch the sounds of great local bands including the Big Tiny Young Show, Ugly Shirt Band and more performing on the Small Stage throughout the week. Back again along is the popular Rosaire’s Royal Racing Pigs, Tonny Petersen’s Hell Drivers, Truck and Tractor Pulls, Horse Pulls and the Woodsmen’s Competition. Rickie Lee will be coming back to perform. And this year we are excited about that the local favorite bandThe Poets.”
Be sure to join in on the fun at the Wayne County Fair main stage on Thursday, Aug. 9 for a Barefoot Blue Jean Night with Country music star Jake Owen. Come listen to some of his hits like “Anywhere with You,” “Apple Pie Moonshine” and “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”
Tickets are $25 for reserved track seats and $15 for General Admission Grandstand seats.
The 150th Annual Wayne County Fair will prove to be fun and exciting for everyone. Look for a book on the History of the Wayne County Fair, and other memorabilia this year. This is an exciting time and an exciting project filled with photos and facts.
