The Electric City Chargers and NEPA Miners will meet in a highly-anticipated Regional American Football League contest Friday night at Sharkey Rosetti Memorial Stadium.

One of the region’s bona fide gridiron rivalries will be renewed Friday night in Varden.

The Electric City Chargers and NEPA?Miners are scheduled to meet in a Regional American Football League battle at Sharkey Rosetti Memorial Field.

Opening kick-off for this Week Three showdown is slated for 7:30 p.m.

“We don’t need any extra motivation for this game,” HHS grad and current Electric City offensive lineman Matty Williams said. “They’re our biggest rival and that’s more than enough to get us pumped up.”

Setting the Stage
Electric City is coming off a wildly succesful season on the amateur grid scene.

Last year, the Chargers piled up 14 victories against just one loss en route to the 2011 RAFL?title. One of the high points of that campaign was a 44-7 drubbing of the Miners.

This summer, NEPA?is off to a much better start, having already won two pre-season games and a pair of RAFL contests.

Electric City has struggled a bit thus far, posting a 2-2 record overall (1-1 league). Last weekend, the Chargers posted their first RAFL?win of the season, cruising to a 26-6 decision over the Philadelphia Braves.

Friday’s showdown will feature several exciting pre-game events.

UFC fighter Brian Stann, a Marine Corps veteran and former football player at the Naval Academy, will appear for a “meet & greet.”?Stann will sign autographs and pose for pictures.

All proceeds will go to the Lou Ruspi Jr. Foundation for Suicide prevention and mental health education.
