Honesdale suffered an embarrassing Game One loss Sunday to Dunmore, but bounced back in a big way in Game Two. Thanks to homerun heroics from Ian Dassance, the Ramblers rolled to a 24-1 rout at Western Wayne.
Honesdale suffered a nightmarish loss in Game One of Sunday’s Collegiate Summer Baseball League twinbill against visiting Dunmore.
The Ramblers got off to a rough start in this one, eventually dropping a 10-0 Mercy Rule decision.
To their immense credit, the Red & Black refused to quit. The local lads fought back with a vengeance, pounding the ball all over the yard en route to a 24-1 win in the nightcap.
With this doubleheader sweep, Honesdale’s overall CSBL?record now stands at 7-6 for the year.
Next up for Coach John?Granquist’s squad is a Wednesday evening showdown with Wagners.
Rob Haines took the hill in the opener and worked three innings before yielding to the bullpen.
Justin Magistro came on in relief and went the rest of the way for Honesdale.
The Ramblers managed just two basehits in Game One. Ryan Soden and John Granquist each rapped a first inning single.
Riley Sullivan dominated this one on the hill, Dunmore’s ace tossed a complete game shutout and went 4-for-4 at the plate.
However, the Ramblers took out their frustrations on a bevy of pitchers in the nightcap. Honesdale erupted for 14 runs in the first two innings, then cruised to a 24-1 triumph.
Ian Dassance earned the spotlight in this one. A former standout at Wallenpaupack Area, Dassance is nearly two years removed form major elbow surgery.
On Sunday, Ian celebrated his coming out party in style. He smoked an RBI?double in the first, then unleashed a towering opposite field homerun in the home second.
Nick Mazza, Mark Granquist and John Granquist each added a 2-run double for the Ramblers.
Ryan Loughran rolled to a complete game win on the pitcher’s mound.
