Former Forest City diamond star Randi Leslie fired a shutout at homestanding Ravenhaus Monday night in Wayne County Women's Softball League action.

It’s been a tough season so far for the ladies from Elegante.

After nine weeks of regular season action, Coach Janet DeLuca’s squad had posted just one win and suffered several heartbeaking losses along the way.

On Monday evening at Western Wayne, however, all the pieces finally fell into place for this up &?coming ballclub.

Elegante received stellar pitching from Randi Leslie, solid team defense...and clutch hitting from the likes of Jess Strasser and Dani Fotusky...en route to a 2-0 victory over Ravenhaus.

With this win, Elegante upped its regular season record to 2-8. Next up is a battle with Busy Bee Tree Service Monday night at Hawley’s Bingham Park.

Mound Dominance
Leslie was in command of this contest right from the opening frame.

Randi was a star pitcher at Forest City Regional as a high schooler. After graduation, she took her skills to the next level at both Keystone and Lackawanna colleges.

On Monday in Varden, Leslie worked her way out of a first inning jam, then settled down into a dominant pitching pattern. She struck out the side in the bottom of the second and racked up a total of seven Ks for the game.

Ravenhaus ace Rachel Spanos was nearly as impressive. The flame throwing righty recorded five Ks of her own and also went the distance, scattering 11 hits over seven innings.

Elegante got to Spanos twice, plating single run in each of the first and third innings.

Jaquel Theis ignited Elegante’s initial uprising with a 2-out single in the top of the first. She sprinted home moments just moments later when Strasser smoked an RBI?double.

Elegante’s hard-hitting third baseman has been on fire lately. Jess hammered an RBI?triple in a recent win over 590 Auto and added a towering homerun against Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic.

On this particular night, Strasser went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double.

Leslie received an insurance run in the top of the third, which brought the final score to 2-0.

Shortstop Kelly Daniel got things going with yet another 2-out basehit. She moved up on a Leslie single, then trotted home courtesy of Dani Fotusky’s RBI.

Katie Kamosky and Spanos led the Ravenhaus attack with two hits apiece.
