  • Earlier this month, the Wallenpaupack Youth Bowling Program concluded its year with the annual awards and recognition banquet at Ehrhardt's Waterfront Resort.
Although this was my first time not attending this banquet in nine seasons, I can say from experience that this banquet is, without question, what most of the youth bowlers look forward to all season long.
It is an elegant culmination to a program which exemplifies class and commitment to the local youth community.
The program is headed by Matthew Tardona, who has been directing the youth services at Wallenpaupack Bowling Center for a decade and a half and has shown no signs of giving up his position.
Tardona also is vice president of Anthracite Valley USBC and is a board member on the Pennsylvania State USBC Youth Association. His commitment to the sport of bowling, and especially the youth of the community, is unwavering.
Matt is the master of ceremony at the annual banquet and is aided by Assistant Director of Youth Services Eric Gumble.
This past year, the banquet hosted almost two hundred guests.
Taylor Warring was the only youth bowler to advance from the District 8 Pepsi Tournament and compete in the State Finals at Lancaster.
    Registration
Sign-ups will be held in early August for the 2012-13 campaign.
The first week is tentatively slated for Sept. 8.
