  • Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic is off to another stellar start on the Wayne County Women’s Softball League scene.
Thanks in large part to the pitching of Becky Loring, CRVC is already 4-0 on the season.
The Beach Lake based ballclub’s latest victims were Cora’s Bistro and The Crossroads. Loring fired a brilliant 6-0 shutout at the Beavers, then held The Crossroads to just seven hits en route to a 9-1 decision.
Next up for CRVC is a Monday night battle with Busy Beaver Tree Service. That contest is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start at Bingham Park in Hawley.
    Mound Dominance
Loring was a multi-sport star during her high school years at Honesdale, excel-ling in softball and golf.
Becky continued her diamond career at King’s College, then signed on with the CRVC?girls. This past week, she dazzled in the circle, posting two huge wins over some of the Wayne County League’s top competition.
On Sunday, Loring allowed Cora’s just four hits over the course of seven shutout innings. Becky did not walk a batter and recorded five strikeouts. She helped her own cause at the plate, banging out a single and double and collecting two RBIs.
Nicki Malloy contributed a double, drove in two runs and scored another. Heidi Blade, Chris Gustin, Sue Dutton and Renee Jourdanais also chipped in with a basehit each.
Sue Zieres earned the starting nod for Cora’s and was saddled with the loss. The veteran righty went six innings and allowed six runs on eight hits.
Melissa Warren, Heather Rieman, Stacy Hughes and Brighid Bauer paced the Beavers’ offensive assault with one hit apiece.
Loring was equally impressive in Monday night’s 9-1 victory over The Crossroads. Becky authored another complete game masterpiece in this one, striking out six while not issuing a walk.
Meanwhile, CRVC’s offense was hitting on all cylinders against Crossroads starter Amy Corey.
The Beach Lake ladies scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back en route to an easy win.
Lindsey Dirlam ignited the attack with three hits and a walk. Malloy was also dialed in, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Jourdanais continued her torrid hitting with two singles and a double. Kristen Scull, Carli Curtis, Sue Dutton, Loring andBlade each chipped in with one base knock.
Tiffany Mulally led the way for The Crossroads by going 2-for-4 with a single and a double.
