In further developments around the district...
Abington Heights defeated Hazleton Area Wednesday night in the Class AAAA girls semifinal. This sets up a showdown for the District Two title between Paupack and the Comets.
These two teams have already met twice this winter with Abington having swept the Lackawanna League’s season series.
The Comets defeated the Lady Bucks, 56-37, back on January 13th. Abington also won the second half encounter, 47-40.
To date, Paupack boasts a 16-8 record. The Comets are 21-5. Interestingly, the two teams share one common playoff opponent.
On Monday at Wyoming Area, Paupack bounced top seeded Valley West from the tourney, 42-33.
In late January, Abington hosted Valley West in a non-league game and absorbed a 70-62 overtime loss.
