Wallenpaupack Area's boys team saw its 2011-'12 season come to an end this weekend with a loss to Delaware Valley in the Class AAAA tournament.
For two full quarters Saturday it appeared as though Wallenpaupack Area was on its way to a major upset in the District Two Class AAAA boys playoffs.
The Buckhorns put the deep freeze on Delaware Valley’s arguably the area’s hottest team coming into the post season.
Coach Rich McGinnis’ ballclub slowed down the pace and controlled the tempo at North Pocono, outscoring the Warriors and taking a 29-25 lead at intermission.
Unfortunately for the Paupack faithful who made the trek to Covington Township, that’s when Brandon Andradi just took over control of the game.
DV’s star...and one of the Lackawanna League’s best all-round players...exploded for 31 points in leading his team to a comeback victory. The final score was 58-45.
With the win, DV advances to the Class AAAA semifinals and a showdown with Hazleton Area. Paupack, meanwhile, saw its season come to an end with a disappointig 8-15 overall record.
Jake Brown once again led the Buckhorns charge offensively. Division One’s regular season scoring champ battled his way to a team-best 14 points.
Will McLaughlin closed out his senior season with a solid effort, powering his way to 11 points in the post.
