On the heels of a lengthy holiday hiatus, Canaan Christian Academy's JV basketball teams returned to action this weekend. The young Eagles showed very little rust in posting a pair of wins over Immanuel.
After a long holiday hiatus, both of Canaan Christian Academy’s JV basketball teams returned to action this weekend.
The young Eagles shook off the rust and rolled to a pair of wins over Immanual Christian.
The girls used relentless defense and balanced scoring to post a 32-19 victory. In the nightcap, the boys battled their way to an 18-18 tie at intermission, then dominated the second half en route to an eventual 43-32 triumph.
Canaan’s JV?records now stand at 3-1 (girls)?and 1-3 (boys). Weather permitting, both teams were slated to be back on the hardwood on Monday evening.
Corrine VanDeLinde led a balanced Lady Eagles attack versus Immanuel. She rattled the rims for a game-high 10 points and hauled in seven boards.
Sami Beals and Sandra Henwood also contributed key plays to Canaan’s cause. Beals tallied eight points and added three assists and three steals, while Henwood chipped in with eight markers of her own.
Casey Guffriedo rounded out the Lady Eagles assault with six points.
On the boys’ side of the ledger, Canaan dug itself an ealy hole, but then caught fire and sprinted to a double digit decision.
Blakely Hoffman and Brogan Scotch each turned in a monster effort for the victorious Eagles.Hoffman tickled the twine for 21 points. Blakely also added six steals and four assists. Scotch cleaned the glass for an astounding 22 rebounds.
Aaron Swingle powered up for six points and 13 boards of his own.
