Lacawac Sanctuary’ summer Music-in-the-Forest series has begun.

Lacawac Sanctuary’ summer Music-in-the-Forest series has begun.

Lacawac presents a range of local and national talent each year in its Carriage House venue to help raise funds for forest preservation and environmental research.  This also keeps alive a tradition from the turn of the previous century. Former Lacawac owners Congressman Charles Connell and later Lt. Governor Louis Watres used to welcome and entertain friends and neighbors from up and down the old Wallenpaupack Valley here and the barn-style events were very popular at Lacawac a hundred years ago.

Additional shows this season include Nashville stars Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, July 2,  Pocono Blues and Jazz Band, July 31, Tommy Prall, August 13, and a return of the Young Geezers on July 17. All shows begin at 7:00 PM, and while reservations are accepted, tickets will be available at the door as space permits.  A flyer with detailed information about each show and performer can be picked up at Lacawac or downloaded at www.Lacawac.org

Those  attending are invited to come early and enjoy a hike on one of Lacawac’s five hiking trails or visit the historic buildings. Food and refreshments are available from 6:00 PM on.   The Carriage House is smoke free, alcohol free and family friendly. And, children under 12 are free.  For more information or to make a reservation, call Lacawac at 570-689-9494 or email info@lacawac.org
