A White Mills woman who allegedly stole a Muscular Dystrophy Association donation container at a Main Street business is behind bars.
Sonja Johannes, 36, was arrested on Jan. 27 for stealing a Muscular Dystrophy Association donation container that was on display at the Townhouse Diner.
The theft occurred on Jan. 20 when Johannes was stopped by an employee at the restaurant as she was stealing the container.
Police say video surveillance depicted Johannes first stealing money from the container and then stealing the whole container by concealing it in her coat.
She was arraigned before Magistrate Ted Mikulak. She failed to post $2,000 bail and was incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility.
